What a question for a killer to ask, and what a way for the second part of Myles’ three-part murder trilogy to begin? Who was killed? That’s what the readers want to know and why was he killed? These questions run through the readers’ minds as one of the most heinous murders ever, has been committed on Chicago’s pier, and the mystery continues as the murder is followed by a diabolical scheme to cover it up.
But wait! If the wrong person has been killed? What will that do? Create more questions? Result in more murders? Will there be other murders? Who’s the mastermind behind them? These questions become the catalyst for a sequence of events that will rivet the readers to their seats.
It’s three months after Jonathan Rose appeared on Rich Levenson’s Until Tomorrow show. “Murder Behind Closed Doors” picks up where “Murder on the Pier,” left off. Jonathan Rose, a handsome and articulate black artist, has become a threat to several rather high ranking officials in Chicago. Many want to see him dead. Naive and trusting, Jon Rose has no clue about this. Set in the 1990s, amidst ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell,’ Jon and Mieko’s story continues as the murder trilogy descends into a quagmire filled with death and intrigue.
The Chicago skyline is still his canvas, Myles unveils a labyrinth of evil constructed by people at the highest levels of power. More secrets get revealed. More people are killed. You don’t know who can be trusted. Rich Levenson? A talk show host who’s become a household name and suddenly the center of attention after a local icon is savagely murdered and left naked on Levenson’s suburban doorsteps. Why? But wait! The same guy who investigated Dr. Mitchell’s death is the first person Levenson calls to report this murder. Why?
“Murder Behind Closed Doors” is a page turner that will keep readers riveted as they try to put the pieces of an enigmatic puzzle together. Many of the same characters return; the priest who belongs on a GQ cover, the doorman with his secret, the songstress who seems to hold the key to all the events. And in this sequel, Myles has created an additional collage of characters who will cause you to hold your breath hoping to find the killer or killers before more murders occur.

Murder Behind Closed Doors Book 2 in the Murder Series edition by Jere Myles Literature Fiction eBooks
Murder Behind Closed Doors by Jere Myles is the second book in the three part murder mystery series, and follows the first entry, Murder on the Pier. Murder Behind Closed Doors is a solid book and can make for some lively conversation when it comes to issues like civil unions, marriage equality and the rights of gays. Myles does a fantastic job of accurately and creatively portraying his characters who are set in the timeframe of the 1990's. When thorough characterization is coupled with a fine mystery, you get an engaging and compelling story. It would probably be beneficial to acquaint oneself with the first book in the series, to better understand the background of the characters and to become more familiar with the plot. While not a completely straightforward mystery, there is enough here to satisfy even the most critical of readers. Highly recommend for a thought provoking read along with interesting social commentary.Product details

Murder Behind Closed Doors by Jere Myles
Another superior mystery thriller from the author of Murder on the Pier.
This, the second book, brings the players up to the level of the readers regarding the mystery, while continuing to resonate with the same voice from Murder on the Pier. There has been another murder and though it takes a while for the reader to be reassured it's not the person we feared it might be. This is a possible spoiler.
We are still dwelling in a world that might make many uncomfortable- but it's one that exists.
So many times his characters, even the ones of not so sterling character, will spout something that seems so innocently appropriate yet so wrong. Giving us a chance to examine our own feelings and beliefs.
"How can you expect someone to say they love something they have been taught to hate? My friends would never have let me turn my back on my...my faith."-Eleanor Evelyn JoyLynn Moore.
Yet they expected her to turn her back on her family.
Anyone who likes mysteries or suspense or drama will love these books. But, more so, if you don't mind stepping out of your comfort zone to examine yourself.
More than a mystery Jere Myles has crafted a story of people with whom the reader can feel compassion for despite their weaknesses perhaps sometimes because of those. At the same time he makes sure you have none for the most despicable even when they express woe over possibly killing the wrong person.
Jon and Eileen are still in great danger and so are many people whose lives have touched Meiko's. There are unexpected allies who are willing to place themselves in danger-in the line of fire. And everything begins to point to places that can only be frightening to imagine since they should be the places where everyone can go for help.
This series is like a multifaceted mirror with page upon page of interesting unusual reflections.
As for the mystery; Taking place in the 90s and considering the main characters race and sexual orientation this could easily be construed as a hate crime. Adding the dialogue of the killers to that would almost add affirmation. But, remembering the rule of mysteries; nothing is as it seems...
I don't plan on missing the third book, Murder on Michigan Avenue, which promises to be as much a thriller as the first two.

I have read first book in this series, Murder on the Pier, and it surprised me with its unconventional approach do typical murder mystery plot and very layered characters with lots of insight into their psyche. I am pleased to say that this book continues on the same path of refreshing way to tell a crime story, but it also improves on some of the weaker sides of the first book.
As much as it was cool to see an original crime novel, sometimes it was frustratingly slow and balance between mystery and introspection was off. In this novel it is more of the former, we get a more even pace from beginning to an end and it is a legitimate page-turner with many exciting parts. Characterization is once again excellent and I really cared about what will happen to our protagonist.
This series, despite its generic titles for novels and pretty tacky covers, is definitely a surprise and this book stands out as a better one from the first two I have read. I recommend reading the first one because this one starts where the last one finishes, so keep that in mind.
The second in Jere Myles’ murder mystery series builds upon the intrigue and mystery of the first book, Murder on the Pier. But the second installment moves at a faster clip, and the storyline is more satisfying. Like the first novel, this mystery starts off with the murder – but from another perspective, another angle. The pieces begin to come together in this second book of the series.
There is no getting around it Myers is not a typical writer, and he doesn’t structure his books as typical murder mysteries. This might be frustrating for some (me included). But he has purposes for the choices he makes. And I must say, this series is proving a lot more interesting and experimental than, again, your typical genre murder mystery novel.
Alas, the end of Murder Behind Closed Doors does not give all the answers we’ve been waiting for since book 1. But the quality of Myles’ writing leaves us wanting more. The characters are intriguing and you want to know what happens to them. I’ll certainly be around waiting for the third book in the series.
Man there are a lot questions unanswered here, and given the fact that this is second in the series, that says a lot about the quality of this book.
We all love suspense, shows like ‘How to get away with murder’ come to mind, but as we all want a solid story with intriguing characters moving the plot forward, we also want a satisfying answer that shall be as a big and important as the mystery, that is not always the case, but worry not, this is the complete opposite.
Everything about this book makes the reader wants to know more and more about pretty much anyone, that’s what happened to me, I couldn’t stop and was always looking for more, if you like mystery books with lots of suspense and intriguing characters, don’t hesitate, buy this book along with previous one and like me, get excited to read the third one.
